A few weeks ago, my friend Hollis and I woke up extra early to get in a work out. Well, he worked out, I just took the pictures! Check them out:

This shoot was really great. We got up bright and early to get the beautiful morning light and get all the good locations before they got too busy. Mornings can be tough when it’s really really early, but we kept the yawns away by laughing, having fun and keeping it really high energy. We shot in Santa Monica and Culver city at popular work out spots. To keep the backgrounds clean I had to choose the right angles, shooting up instead of straight forward or down. This can eliminate a lot of clutter in images.

Training Day – NFL Style

Last year, Fox Sports sent me to photograph a private NFL training session before the 2013 season. Here are some of the shots from that day:

 

Sometimes when you watch football on tv, you forget how much training and dedication it takes to be a star athlete. Watching these guys work out first hand was jaw dropping. Just the sheer power and athleticism is amazing. So next time you’re on the couch watching monday night football, these photos will motivate you to get off your butt and work on that killer six pack you’ve always wanted.

Fit and Fun

A few weeks ago. some friends and I got together for an afternoon work out. We ran around, threw the football around and just had a really great time. Check out the pictures here:

We shot around my neighborhood in South Central Los Angeles. It amazes me how many cool and interesting places you can find just by stepping out your front door. If you don’t know where to shoot or how to find a good location, just go for a walk, you are bound to find something cool. This shoot was also a lot of fun because the talent was having a great time. If  you find it hard to shoot a larger group of people, let them talk and get to know each other a little before you start. Models that feel familiar with one another are more likely to have fun and interact naturally with each other during the shoot.

Ever since I learned that Grease was filmed at Venice High I’ve wanted to shoot there. It has such an amazing look and vibe. I hope you can tell that we had a little too much fun there. Surfer Girl

On my trip to Hawaii I had the chance to go out with Chelsea Byland for a morning sesh at Rockpile in Honolulu. Here are the shots:

Chelsea grew up surfing in southern California and killing almost every contest she entered. She still rips, but is currently attending the University of Hawaii and focusing on school.

Sorry I didn’t post last week,  I was busy being a beach bum and getting my tan on in Hawaii! Check out the first couple images from my trip; a surf session with Kekoa at White Plains beach in Ewa.

Olympic Sized Dreams

We are going to take a quick break from extreme sports to celebrate the world coming together for our greatest sporting event: The Olympics. A while ago I did a little shoot with a couple Olympic hopefuls, check out the shots!

The Olympics are one of my absolute favorite things, so it was an honor to spend an afternoon with a couple of America’s finest athletes.

Also, this year I am crazy stoked and honestly not surprised that one of the girls I grew up playing water polo with, Melissa Seidemann, is absolutely killing it for Team USA. The ladies won in overtime against Australia today to make it to the gold medal game on Thursday against Spain. I cannot wait for the game and I wish them the best of luck.

Finally some new work, comin your way! My friend Matt and I  headed over to Muscle Beach in Venice, California to get our Richard Simmons on and pump some iron.
