For class this week, we were supposed to make pictures that sell something. I’ve had this idea for a skate shoot for a while now, and thought this would be a perfect time to break it out! I guess the shots are selling the helmet, but really I just wanted to play with special effects make up and have fun!

Hello Ladies

This saturday I was invited to shoot with GRO, Girls Riders Organization. GRO is is a group on a mission to inspire, educate and support girls in action sports like skateboarding and BMX. These girls are sick!

There were GRO girls of all ages there and they all ripped. The girls skate at the Costa Mesa skate park every first saturday of the month and their goal is to eventually have more girls there than guys. If your not in the Costa Mesa area, there are GRO events all of the US, check out their website and find out where they are in your area!

All About the Benjamin’s- Money Cup pt. 1

This weekend I got to go the the Maloof Money Cup in Costa Mesa, CA and it was amazing. For those of you who are not familiar with this event, it is the premier showcase for pro and amateur skateboarding. So many great skaters, great people and great action.

My Girl

This week my good friend Stefani came back to Santa Barbara for a visit. We used to live together with another Brooks student, Lynn Bagley, so Stefani of all people is used to last minute modeling. I decided to drag her along on a shoot yesterday just for old times sake. Needless to say, I think she secretly misses being a model.

Hopefully I can keep my roll going and keep posting more often like this. Wish me luck!

Make It Work!

As Tim Gunn from Project Runway often says.. “Make it work!” and that is exactly what I did for this shoot. First I had light issues.. as in they didn’t work at all.. and then I had camera issues.. as in my lens wasn’t “communicating” with my camera which meant I essentially had no way to control how much light was coming into my camera. Yet, after all of this, I got in a couple good shots.

My model Catri was amazing to put up with me during this shoot and perform like a rockstar.

A lot of exciting shoots commin up this weekend so stay tuned!
